根據Grand View Research資料提出，2018年全球唇膏市場規模約為115億美元，20歲以下女性約佔全球唇膏銷售30％，為主要的消費客群，顯示年輕女性對於使用唇部化妝品修飾個人外貌的意識與需求增強，同時呈現唇膏於化妝品市場的消費數量成長。在外型樣式方面，則以管式唇膏(tube/stick) 樣式最受青睞，約佔全球總額的60.9％；其次是液態式唇膏(Liquid)。
由於唇膏的樣式與顏色多元，每位女性會擁有多支唇膏，因此常有無法使用完畢，即需要面臨丟棄的問題。本研究以管式唇膏為例，結合飾品設計概念，發展出系列性的唇膏創作，其主要創作特色為：(1) 使唇膏外盒變成飾品重覆再利用，賦予功能性且延展產品使用週期、(2) 透過飾品結合提升唇膏的多元性與價值、(3) 100% 採用植物萃取原料，取代原有唇膏的化學成分。
According to data released by the Grand View Research agency, the global lipstick market for 2018 is around 11.5 billion US dollars, and females under the age of twenty form the lion's share of global customers for the industry at approximately 30%. These figures indicate that young women have an increased perception and demand for using lip cosmetics to style personal appearances. Statistics also show that lipstick consumption is on the course of a rising trend in the cosmetics market. As for packaging, tube/stick formats are the most favored variety, taking up 60.9% of the global total, followed by the liquid format.
Female consumers tend to own several lipstick products due to their wide range of formats and colors. They regularly face the problem of having to dispose of lipstick products before they are depleted. This study focuses on the tube/stick lipstick format to develop a series of lipstick creations that integrate accessorizing design concepts.
The main traits of the project include the following. 1) The outer box packaging of the lipstick product is made into an accessory for reuse, so to assign it functionality that could extend beyond the product's usage cycle. 2) The accessorization of the lipstick product brings added dimensions and value. 3) The lipsticks are made with 100% plant extracts to replace potentially health-damaging compounds used in standard lipstick production.
