Modern Coven

以音樂作為載體,Queer和BDSM作為核心,從樂曲的製作到專輯包裝、周邊設計都一手包辦,為的就是想將這個議題最大程度的再現,同时也將重心放在如何將“小眾文化”視覺化,讓大眾能夠知覺主題帶來的想法,並且把思緒裡紊亂的碎片拼接成一副完整的作品呈現給觀者。
選擇以音樂作為載體也是因為音樂相較與視覺是一個更為感性的存在,同時本次跨域製作也給視覺方面帶來了更多體悟以及創作靈感。
酷兒參考的Hyper Pop曲風使用了工業音效配合刺耳的高頻噪音,欲讓聽者代入工廠內的被造物,燒紅的鐵錘就像自身釐清的每一個念頭,捶打在聽者身上仿佛讓其變得更加完整的感覺。
BDSM的部分參考了迷幻曲風,加入了皮鞭拍打聲、鏈條的金屬聲等,展現了實踐中的情欲流動、同時也是展現自我的過程,讓聽者仿佛從原本不完整的自我,隨著實踐過程慢慢變得清晰明了。
會想以BDSM與酷兒為主題是因為組別成員裡分別有BDSM的實踐者與跨性別者。
提到BDSM ,主題發想的成員在行為實踐中才能展現出自我的慾望—渴望臣服、被控制、獲得安全感與滿足感。
在社會的主流目光下此文化被貼上較多「怪異、變態、危險的性偏好」等標籤......以BDSM為選題之一為的就是想通過這次創作來誠實面對自己的癖好與慾望;而提到酷兒,主題發想的另一位成員,意識到自身並非主流社會中期望的性別型態,也因為原生身體與理想中的女性身體有著莫大的差異,加上被主流社會的蔑視與攻擊,所以想以性別這個元素當成主題來進行抒發心情的創作。
在社會發展下,創作風氣愈發自由,每個人都有專屬於他們本體的核心概念,作品想要傳達構成自我的"核",也在思考能夠將自我的核加工、再製並呈現出來的創作會迸出什麼樣的火花。
回到主題名稱,如今人群中較為特立獨行的人,就像以前的女巫一般,僅因為和大眾不一樣而使人避而遠之,更有甚者會遭到傷害。而現代女巫集會這個主題,代表忠於自我核心,并為我們的“核”驕傲。

Modern Coven

Using music as a vehicle, with Queer and BDSM at its core, from the production of the music to album packaging and peripheral design, all handled single-handedly, the aim is to maximize the representation of this issue. Simultaneously, the focus is on visualizing "subculture" and enabling the public to perceive the ideas brought forth by the theme, while piecing together the chaotic fragments of thoughts into a coherent work presented to the audience.

Choosing music as the medium is also because music, compared to visuals, is a more sensory existence. Additionally, this interdisciplinary production brings more insights and creative inspiration to the visual aspect.

The Hyper Pop style referenced by Queer employs industrial sound effects coupled with piercing high-frequency noise, aiming to immerse listeners into the creations within a factory. The red-hot iron hammer strikes, much like clarifying each thought, pounding on the listener, creating a sense of completeness.

Regarding BDSM, psychedelic music styles were referenced, incorporating sounds of whip lashes and metallic chains, showcasing the flow of desire in practice, while also revealing the process of self-realization, making the listener gradually clearer from their previously incomplete self.

The choice of BDSM and Queer as themes is because there are practitioners of BDSM and transgender individuals among the group members.

When mentioning BDSM, the member conceptualizing the theme can only express their desires—longing for submission, control, safety, and satisfaction—through behavioral practices. Under the mainstream societal gaze, this culture is often labeled with tags such as "peculiar, deviant, dangerous sexual preferences"… Choosing BDSM as one of the topics aims to honestly confront one's own preferences and desires through this creative process; as for Queer, another member conceptualizing the theme, realizing that they do not fit the expected gender norms in mainstream society, and experiencing significant differences between their innate body and the idealized female body, coupled with contempt and attacks from mainstream society, they want to express their emotions through the theme of gender.

With societal development, the creative atmosphere is increasingly liberated, and everyone has their own core concept. The work aims to convey the "core" of self and consider what kind of spark can be ignited by processing and reproducing one's core and pre..
