Liuqiu Studies Diary

小琉球作為台灣唯一的珊瑚礁島,擁有豐富的自然景觀,隨著觀光發展日益盛行,造成當地生態環境出現破壞。為了改善此問題,並提高遊客對生態的認識,我們設計了一款以環境保育為主題的桌遊,透過遊玩的過程來讓使用者學習海洋生態與環境保育的相關知識,從中也能更快速的了解小琉球當地景觀與文化特色。同時結合擴增實境(AR)技術,製作出30種潮間帶常見生物圖卡,透過生物知識的介紹與擴增實境(AR)動畫輔助,讓使用者不走訪潮間帶的情況下,也能藉由圖卡了解生物的相關知識,並減少踩踏與觸摸,以達到緩解潮間帶生態負擔的問題。此外,還有以環境保育與海洋生態為主軸設計了兩本知識手冊,透過資訊視覺化的設計,讓使用者在翻閱手冊的同時,可以搭配桌遊與圖卡一同學習,並從中認識海洋生態及了解環境保育的重要性。

Xiaoliuqiu Island, Taiwan's exclusive coral reef island, stands as a treasure trove of natural beauty. However, the escalating tourism industry has posed significant threats to its delicate ecological balance. In response, we have devised a multifaceted strategy to mitigate these challenges and instill a greater sense of environmental consciousness among visitors.

Central to our approach is the creation of a board game dedicated to environmental conservation. Through immersive gameplay, tourists can delve into the intricacies of marine ecology while learning about the importance of environmental stewardship. By engaging in interactive challenges and decision-making scenarios, players gain firsthand insights into the fragile ecosystems of Xiaoliuqiu, fostering a deeper understanding of its local landscapes and cultural heritage.

In addition to the board game, we have harnessed the power of Augmented Reality (AR) technology to develop 30 organism cards representing common intertidal zone species. These cards serve as gateways to a virtual realm, where users are introduced to the biological intricacies of each organism through informative text and captivating AR animations. By leveraging AR, tourists can explore the wonders of Xiaoliuqiu's marine life without disturbing the sensitive intertidal habitats, thus minimizing ecological disruptions while enriching their learning experiences.

Furthermore, we have crafted two comprehensive knowledge handbooks focusing on environmental conservation and marine ecology. These handbooks feature visually engaging content and information design, allowing users to deepen their understanding of marine ecosystems and the importance of environmental conservation. Seamlessly integrated with the gaming experience, the handbooks provide an additional layer of educational depth, enabling tourists to explore the intricate interplay between human activity and ecological sustainability.

Through our integrated approach, we aim to tackle the environmental challenges facing Xiaoliuqiu Island while promoting sustainable tourism practices. By raising awareness and providing accessible educational resources, we seek to foster a profound appreciation for the island's natural beauty and cultural significance among visitors. Through collaborative efforts and collective responsibility, we can work towards safeguarding Xiaoliuqiu's unique ecological heritage for generations to come, ensuring its preservation as a cherished natural sanctua..
