民間信仰指源於傳統信仰與習俗，並持續流傳至今的社會信仰，涉及對神明、鬼魂、祖先、聖賢、天地自然及社會器物的崇拜。在這個領域，人們享有自由選擇宗教信仰的權利，來找尋屬於自己的精神歸屬。台灣民間有許多廣為流傳的傳統信仰，在臺灣落地生根，逐漸形成獨具特色的本土風格。

儘管沒有科學證據證明神明、鬼魂的真實存在，但我們仍應尊重各種宗教信仰，因為每個信仰都具有其存在價值。本作品採用繪本形式，透過虛構故事向讀者介紹一些民間傳說和信仰，並以客觀的角度探討一些民間傳說，適合闔家觀賞。

故事以第一人稱視角，描述小汝跟隨家人到山林中遊玩時，遭遇到的一系列神秘事件。當他獨自玩耍時，被一種出沒在荒野、山林和水域中的精怪—「魔神仔」帶到深山裡，迷路並陷入危險之中。幸好及時得到了虎爺的保護與拯救，成功脫險並與家人團聚。在這段經歷中，他想起家人經常帶他去拜訪虎爺，並感激虎爺的守護，使他免於受難、得以獲救。

虎爺是道教中一種以虎為形象的神祇，具有驅邪、招財、鎮宅等神力，常被視為驅邪和保護信徒財物的神明，因此可以在許多廟裡見到祂的身影。由於多供奉於幼童視線容易接觸到的地上，也被視為「兒童的守護神」，祈求小孩能如虎爺一般威猛健康。

Folk belief refers to the societal faith originating from traditional beliefs and customs, persisting to this day, including reverence for deities, spirits, ancestors, sages, nature, and societal objects. In this aspect, people are free to choose their religions to seek their spiritual belonging. Taiwan has numerous widely propagated traditional beliefs, which are deeply rooted in the local culture, gradually shaping a distinctive indigenous style.

Despite the lack of scientific evidence to prove the existence of deities or spirits, it is important to respect various religious beliefs because each belief holds its intrinsic value. Through the picture book to introduce readers to some folklore and beliefs, exploring them from an objective perspective. It is suitable for all ages.

The story is narrated from a first-person perspective, describing a series of mysterious events encountered by Xiao Ru on his family trip. When Xiao Ru plays alone, he is led into the depths of the mountains by a ghost known as the "Moo-Sin-Ai". Consequently, Xiao Ru got lost and put himself in danger. Fortunately, he got protection and rescue from Tiger Lord (the god of tiger), helping him to escape successfully and reunite with his family. After this experience, he recalls the times his family often took him to visit the Tiger Lord and expresses gratitude for the deity's protection, which spared him from disaster and ensured his safety.

Tiger Lord is a deity in Taoism with the image of a tiger, which has powers in exorcism, gaining wealth, and home protection.Therefore, it often regarded as a deity for warding off evil and protecting the belongings of believers, this is the reason why Tiger Lord can be found in many temples. Additionally, due to the Tiger Lord being displayed at eye level for children, it is also considered a "guardian deity for children." Consequently, parents often pray for their children to grow up as strong and healthy as Tiger Lord.
