Located close to the seaside, Qigu experiences hot summers and cold winters, coupled with a local cuisine that favors stir-frying. Therefore, we connect the lifestyle of Qigu with craft beer. For ingredients, we choose those that best represent Qigu and are also economically important locally: red shallot, honeydew, and cherry tomatoes, which are commonly cultivated by locals. The Black-faced Spoonbill, abbreviated as "Hei Pi," phonetically similar to "black beer," is the inspiration for the fourth beer. In total, there are four varieties of beer.
While promoting local craft beer, we also aim to showcase different aspects of Qigu. Soil near the sea contains higher salt content, resulting in crops with sweeter and stronger flavors. Honeydew is a major product of Qigu, while red shallots, due to geological factors, have a particularly pungent taste. Qigu is renowned as the largest producer of red shallots in Taiwan.
In addition to producing craft beer from these unique crops to increase farmers' income and reduce food waste, we also hope to convey the natural and industrial landscape of Qigu through the design of the beer labels and the flavors of craft beer, allowing people to experience the unique characteristics of Qigu visually and gastronomically.
