Taiwan Speckled Band Pattern Design

Taiwan Speckled Band Pattern Design

"What's Snake" Taiwan Speckled Band Pattern Design

Taiwan is abundant in natural resources. Snakes are one of the common species in daily life. However, most of the relevant literature and propaganda currently focus on venomous snake species. As a result, the public generally has a deeper understanding of snakes, with venomous snakes being relatively unfamiliar, while non-venomous snakes are relatively unfamiliar. Most of the public prefers to kill rather than keep snakes. If they encounter snakes in private homes or during eco-tourism, many will handle them inappropriately due to insufficient ecological awareness, leading to a sharp decline in the number of snakes. Just as there is constant news about snakes being killed on the road in ecological reserves.
Moreover, due to overhunting, climate change, habitat invasion, human migration, and human greed, snake species gradually decline in Taiwan. Even cause an imbalance in the ecosystem. Currently, there are 15 snake species on the verge of extinction, including species endemic to Taiwan.
In addition to calling for the protection of endangered snakes and popularizing snake knowledge and prevention measures for encountering snakes. This project will also unveil the mystery and beauty of snakeskin patterns by introducing six kinds of protected Colubridae non-venomous snake species that the public may encounter in life. These species are the Amphiesma miyajimae, Sinonatrix annularis, Elaphe mandarina, Elaphe taeniura, Xenochrophis piscator, and Rhabdophis swinhonis. This project converts these species' patterns into animal print designs and applies them to fashion accessories. Highlight the relationship between snakeskin patterns and their habitats. Hoping that fashion accessories will help connect people and the ecosystem through the perception of converted animal print designs aimed at helping people overcome their fear of snakes, promoting the ecological significance and value of snakes, protecting the Earth's biodiversity, and improving the ecological environment.
