PFM

在非洲大部分的家庭,光是要好好煮完一餐就必須經歷很繁複的過程,婦女平均一天得花上三小時左右在煮飯上。每天都要收集大量木柴,才能準備孩子們的三餐,不僅耗費體力也耗費時間,此外獲取木柴的過程需長途跋涉,砍伐林木也更加速當地森林資源的流失,木柴燃燒率極低的狀況下,使用大量的燃料更是危害健康及環境的原因之一。
PFM是個可透過削碎象草及燃燒加熱最終形成固炭物的木炭製造裝置,幫助當地人縮短因煮飯需長途跋涉取得燃料所耗費的時間及減緩森林流失速度。
婦女可踩動PFM,藉由動力帶動內部刀片將象草破碎,使塊體落入下方燃燒室,並生火加熱使其熱裂解,產生出能利用的的固炭物。
PMF的材料搭建,可讓燃燒室隔熱,以防止熱氣竄出,此外,也增加了婦女在使用上的安全性,並將木炭發展成可替代的素材,降低大量木柴消耗,延緩森林流失,進而改善因燒柴所造成的健康問題。

PFM

In many African households, just preparing a meal involves a complex process, with women spending an average of about three hours a day cooking. Every day, they must gather a large amount of firewood to prepare three meals for their children, a task that is both physically and time-consuming. Moreover, the process of obtaining firewood often involves long journeys. The cutting down of trees accelerates the loss of local forest resources. Given the low combustion efficiency of firewood, the use of large amounts of fuel is one of the factors harming both health and the environment.
PFM is a wood charcoal manufacturing device that can be used to grind elephant grass and heat it through combustion to ultimately produce solid carbon material. It helps local residents shorten the time spent on long journeys to obtain fuel for cooking and reduce the rate of deforestation.
Women can operate the PFM by stepping on it, using their power to drive internal blades to shred elephant grass, causing the pieces to fall into the combustion chamber below and ignite. Heating then thermally decomposes the shredded material, producing usable solid carbon material.
The construction materials of the PFM allow for insulation of the combustion chamber to prevent heat from escaping. This increases safety for women during use. Furthermore, it promotes the development of charcoal as an alternative material, reducing the consumption of large amounts of firewood, slowing down deforestation, and improving health issues caused by wood burning.
