The global phenomenon of population aging is intensifying, and we recognize that significant changes are occurring in the social demographic structure. With population aging, the demand for long-term care, health services, social engagement, and lifelong learning among older adults is steadily increasing. In order to enhance the quality of life for older adults and promote their overall development, there is an urgent need to establish learning opportunities specifically designed for seniors. This initiative aims to promote the health and happiness of older adults, break down age discrimination, and increase community involvement.
In the planning of community spaces, it is important to bring together diverse groups of people to achieve community prosperity and age-friendliness. Specifically, this includes providing facilities for daytime care, pharmacies, rehabilitation clinics, and senior-friendly stores, as well as community facilities such as libraries and activity centers where people of all ages can gather and utilize the space. We hope that through such design, older adults can age in place within familiar community environments, delaying the need for admission to long-term care facilities such as nursing homes. This approach not only makes effective use of resources such as repurposed campuses but also promotes community cohesion and fosters intergenerational activities, facilitating cross-generational communication and collaboration in the construction of a more vibrant community living environment.
