基地坐落於台東市民族里，台東高商旁，是白冷會在台總部，神父修士們，自年輕來此，在這塊貧脊的土地上，用一生歲月灌溉，豐富了台東人的身心靈，這群烙印在台東人心中的瑞士傳教士們，仿彿成為東部海岸山脈。場地內自然景觀豐富，並保留早年建造的合院配置建築物。隨著總部日漸離去的神父，我們將白冷會基地視為一個為不同型態旅者提供沈澱心靈、開啟性靈之旅的旅宿空間。
- 新與舊的對話 -
在整體空間配置上方面，走進基地，遊走在新的空間，看到新的建築面貌 漫步在後方原有的花園 進入舊有的步道 映入眼簾的是舊有的建築肌理、立面 ，是一個新到舊的循環
在建築材料方面，采用了延續了原建築白色水泥構造搭配木門、窗；花磚等元素，運用在新增建之建築物上，也利用廊道圍塑出合院空間，並將公共區域串連起。新建築以簡單外形，以避免過於誇張的形式呈現，高度低於原建築，避免幹擾原建築，繼而使新、老建築在同一個秩序中演進
- 遵循原有的動線 -
當走進基地時，增建廊道系統連接既有的建築物，保留了人們對於這個空間的熟悉感和情感聯繫。基地的使用功能雖發生變化，但我們希望不破壞原有沈澱的道路，使旅人們也可以選擇 遵循舊有的廊道動線 到達聖堂空間。
The base is located in, Taitung City, next to the Taitung Business School. It is the headquarters of the Bethlehem Order in Taiwan. The priests and monks have come here since they were young and have spent their entire lives irrigating in this poor land, enriching Taitung. Human mind and soul, this group of Swiss missionaries imprinted on the hearts of Taitung people seem to have become the Eastern Coast Mountains. The site is rich in natural landscape and retains the courtyard configuration buildings built in the early years. As the priests from the headquarters are leaving day by day, we regard the Bethlehem Society base as a accommodation space that provides different types of travelers with a place to settle their souls and start their spiritual journey.
- A conversation between old and new -
In terms of the overall spatial configuration, when you walk into the base, wander around the new space, and see the new architectural appearance, strolling through the original garden at the back and entering the old trail, you will see the old architectural texture and facades. It’s a cycle of new to old
In terms of building materials, the white cement structure of the original building with wooden doors, windows, and tiles are used in the newly built buildings. Corridors are also used to enclose the courtyard space, and public areas are used in corridors. Connect in series. The new buildings have a simple shape to avoid being overly exaggerated, and are lower in height than the original building to avoid disturbing the original building, thereby allowing the new and old buildings to evolve in the same order.
- Follow the original movement line -
When walking into the site, a corridor system was added to connect the existing buildings, retaining people's familiarity and emotional connection with the space. Although the use function of the base has changed, we hope not to destroy the original sedimentary roads, so that travelers can choose to follow the old corridor routes to reach the sanctuary space.
