位於石碇隧道旁的石碇休息站，目前佔所有休息站中排名第14名，是第一個需要下交流
道才會來至此休息站，對於南北向相較不便，但對於當地居民來說卻是一個好去處，藉此加上機車旅客表示需增加機車停車空間，發現多於汽車閒置空間，原先封閉方體建築加以進行「拯救」之手法，形成圓弧體纏繞建築，將原先建築擺脫舊框架，增加更多之活動空間以及其他服務設施，保留兩側廁所管道與位置將進行增改，新增在地居民休息空間，位於入口旁，以便居民動線，而後則為南北旅客停車空間，與商店入口以及廁所，將空閒停車空間新增為二層，為休息時間長久旅客使用，由天橋輔助行人前往屋頂入口處，通往一層商店販賣區，增建與修改石定休息區，為新增更多族群之使用，不再是單一休息站服務對象。
